FAQs

Q?

Why should I choose a law firm over an advocate?

A.

While there is nothing wrong with the services of an advocate, there are a few advantages that a law firm can offer you over a sole attorney.

A single advocate is limited by his time, knowledge and resources. If they don't have the know-how, time, or resources to meet your needs, you are left adrift. However, a firm is the product of several attorneys pooling their resources and talents together to serve you. This gives the firm a broader base of expertise and resources - allowing them to excel in their own domains, and take on a greater share of your legal burdens.

Another great advantage to a firm is availability. With a sole attorney, your access is limited by the availability of a single human being. However, with a firm availability is not as much of an issue. Where one attorney is busy, another can step into the breach - ready to discuss your case, resolve your difficulties, or answer your questions in their place.

Q?

Will my case be kept confidential?

A.

Confidentiality is key for our attorneys. We operate with the strictest standards of confidentiality, and are in full accordance with the ethical standards of privacy mandated by the courts of India and the American Bar Association. Our confidentiality extends to any identifying information, personal details, case specifics, and even our engagement as your attorney.

We maintain this privacy for anyone that asks - be they a relative, adversary, or even the government. Nothing short of a court order or your consent will convince us to release your privileged information to a third party - no matter whom that party may be.

Q?

What jurisdictions do you operate in? If I live in a different state or country, how can I get in touch with you?

A.

We are licensed to practice in the State of New York and the Courts of India, and our offices are located in New Delhi and Gurgaon. However, if you are out of state, or outside India altogether, we can help you by providing our services to you online.

In matters involving significant transactions or complexity, we are also willing to fly our attorneys out to work on-site.

Q?

How can you provide your services online? How can I reach you if I have a question or concern?

A.

In the internet age, distance has become largely illusory. Our attorneys are fully licensed to practice in New York and India, and are available for consultation through e-mail, phone, or skype. When present us with an inquiry, we will reach out to you for more information, and put you in direct contact with one of our attorneys.

On receiving the full picture, our attorneys will work around the clock to handle your case – just as if they were right next door. If at any stage you have questions, comments, or concerns, you can directly reach out to the attorney handling your case, and they will get back to you within 24 hours.

Most of our work takes place off-site, in our New Delhi & Gurgaon offices. However, should your work become more complex or involve a greater investment, our attorneys are willing and able to fly to you and work on-site.

Q?

Do you handle litigation work for your clients?

A.

Yes, we have a dedicated litigation department that handles litigation on matters related to our areas of expertise - medical law, media law, intellectual property, and commercial law. Currently, our litigation department only practices in the courts of India. For cases outside of our domain, we can recommend lawyers in your region better equipped to handle the litigation process.

Q?

What is the turnaround time for my work? And how much of my own time will it take?

A.

Depending on the precise nature and circumstances of your case, completion may be a matter of hours or weeks. However, for any inquiry, follow-up, or communication, our office will provide you with an answer within 24 hours.

The nature and circumstances of the case also determine how much of your own time and effort would be required - however, it is our first priority to take care of your legal needs with as little delay and inconvenience to our clients as humanly possible.

Q?

Can you guarantee that I will receive my visa, patent or copyright? If not, what am I paying for?

A.

We can make no guarantee for the final result of any application. These applications are subject to the scrutiny of various governmental departments. These departments use several standards and regulations to adjudicate applications which are not available to the public – and often change from month to month. As such, it is against the professional code of conduct to offer any guarantee of outcomes when it comes to an application for a right front the government – whether it is a visa, patent, or copyright.

Q?

I can’t afford a lawyer, what can I do?

A.

There are many resources available to those unable to pay through the government and non-governmental organizations. We can get you in touch with the right resources to get aid for your case.

We also take a certain portion of our cases on a pro-bono basis, to serve the underprivileged and give back to the community. Feel free to ask us if we can take your case on a pro-bono basis. There are also certain fee deferment and reduction arrangements we can enter into depending on the circumstances of your case.
